USC Esports Merger: Uniting Competition and Community
USC’s two long-standing esports organizations, Trojan Esports and SC Esports, have merged to form USC Esports, aiming to centralize gaming and competitive events on campus.
For years, the two clubs had different focuses—Trojan Esports emphasized competition with varsity and JV teams, while SC Esports prioritized casual gaming, career development, and community-building. Past merger discussions repeatedly stalled due to leadership disagreements, but delays in student organization registration this semester created an opportunity for unification.
Now operating as a single entity, USC Esports plans to host monthly events, industry panels, and rivalry competitions like Conquest (USC vs. UCLA in November). Leaders hope this merger fosters a more inclusive and structured esports environment, making it easier for students to get involved—whether competitively or socially.
